For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Dont miss out on this opportunity to work in a place where urban living and natural landscapes come together in a perfect balance!Salary Range: $4700 - $6000 / MonthSalary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresParticipate in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every dayCollaborate with the engineering team to produce detailed plan technical projects on site such as developing maintenance strategies for critical fixed assets.Opportunity to assist in coordination of maintenance projects relating to plant, mine, and maintenance expansions and modifications; responsible for organizing, scheduling, and monitoring the status of maintenance projectsCreate and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do businessTroubleshoot current failures and determining root causesCollaborate with engineering and site operations to organize, schedule, manage costs, analyze data, and monitor progress of projectsQualificationsWorking towards an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringComfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical, and operational personnelMotivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneouslyStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levelsProficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and a solid understanding of AutoCAD and Solidworks would be advantageousPrevious work experience in a technical or engineering environment is an assetExperience with form design, macros, and data analysis is an assetProject management skills is an assetAble to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficientlyAbility to communicate with precision in a technical environmentAble to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understandThe ability to speak Spanish is requiredAbout TeckTeck is a leading Canadian resource company focused on responsibly providing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition while caring for the people, communities, and land that we love.Teck's two regional business units, North America and Latin America, are responsible for Teck's assets through all phases of safe, sustainable development, operation, and closure.
