Mathematician The Mathematician will design and deliver engaging, ageappropriate math learning activities for elementary students enrolled in Centre Canadas Horizon Summer School. Responsibilities include preparing daily lesson plans, creating handson problemsolving exercises, demonstrating foundational math concepts, supporting group and individual learning, and adapting instruction for different skill levels. The participant will facilitate math workshops, supervise small learning groups, guide students through numeracy challenges, and integrate creative approaches to help students build confidence and enjoyment in mathematics. They will assist with classroom management, transitions between activities, and collaboration with other instructors to ensure smooth program flow. The youth employee will also prepare learning materials, maintain simple progress notes, record attendance digitally, and support endofprogram demonstrations or student showcases. They will follow safety and childprotection protocols, communicate respectfully with parents when needed, and contribute to program evaluation by collecting feedback and documenting learning outcomes. This role builds strong transferable skills in teaching support, communication, problem solving, creativity, digital tool use, planning, teamwork, and leadership while creating an encouraging learning environment for children. Work Requirements & Expectations Important Please Read Before Applying All candidates must be available to work fulltime (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM 4:00 PM) for the entire 8week contract. All work is performed in person, primarily at our Burnaby location, with occasional activities at other venues within the Lower Mainland, BC. - Maintain a daily work log recording tasks completed, entry and exit times, and notable observations full reporting procedures will be explained during onboarding. - Be present at the workplace every scheduled workday, arriving punctually and prepared to engage fully with team activities and assigned responsibilities. - Participate in mandatory onthejob training provided during the employment period prior experience in all areas is not required. - Attend a preemployment interview as part of the selection process; shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview before a formal offer is extended. - Some activities may take place at partner locations or community venues within the Lower Mainland, BC.
