Academic Subjects High School Teacher Math Trainer Future Bridge Academy Program CentreCanada Newcomer Services Society is seeking Math Trainers (Youth) to support students in grades 612 at Future Bridge Academy Program. This role focuses on teaching, tutoring, and preparing students for math contests and school lessons, while helping them build confidence and problemsolving skills. Trainers will also develop content, create mock exams, and facilitate math enrichment activities. No professional teaching credentials are required; all training will be provided and supervised. This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs and must comply with program eligibility, requiring participants to be aged 1530. Key Responsibilities Math Instruction and Support Provide individual or smallgroup tutoring aligned with students school lessons. Support students in understanding concepts, solving problems, and applying strategies. Prepare students for math contests and competitions through targeted practice. Answer student questions and provide stepbystep explanations. Content Development and Resource Preparation Research and prepare teaching materials, problem sets, and exercises for school topics and enrichment programs. Develop mock exams and practice tests to help students prepare for contests or assessments. Plan and facilitate math camps or workshops to extend learning opportunities. Student Engagement and Progress Tracking Conduct intake or checkin conversations to assess students current skill levels, interests, and goals. Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adapt instruction to meet individual needs. Maintain records of student engagement, completed exercises, and performance on mock exams. Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusivity Ensure all instruction and materials are inclusive, culturally respectful, and accessible to students with diverse learning needs or language backgrounds. Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate varying abilities, learning styles, and family circumstances. Collaboration and Communication Work with teachers, program staff, and other trainers to align instruction with school curricula and academy objectives. Participate in team discussions to improve content, delivery, and student outcomes. Skill Development Participants will gain practical workplace skills, including: Teaching and communication: explaining concepts and presenting problems clearly. Problem-solving and critical thinking: designing exercises, mock exams, and enrichment activities. Collaboration: coordinating with staff and other trainers. Organization and planning: preparing materials, tracking progress, and scheduling activities. Supervision and Mentorship Daily supervision: Provided by the Program Coordinator, including guidance on lesson plans, content preparation, and student interactions. Weekly mentorship: Structured sessions with senior staff focused on reflective learning, skill development, and career exploration. Measurable Outcomes Track student progress and provide weekly summaries to the Program Coordinator. Fluency in English is required; however, applicants who also speak any of the following languages Turkish, Pashto, Arabic, Turkmen, Farsi, Uzbek, Chinese, or Hindi are encouraged to apply, as this will help support newcomer students in their native language when needed.
