Position Title Sous Chef Company Name The Lodge at Arrow Lakes, a branch of CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures Reports to Head Chef/Lodge Manager Location of Work Nakusp, British Columbia Employee Type Hourly FLSA Status Non-Exempt Number of Positions 1 Desired Start Date April 1, 2026 Position Overview The Sous Chef requires an in-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods. A passion for creative and highend casual dining in a pubstyle setting is a must, as well as the confidence and skill to create quality, innovative dining entrees for our evening specials. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in collaborating with members of the team to deliver exceptional products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work cooperatively and professionally with the Head Chef and frontofhouse staff to provide exceptional guest experience. Under the supervision of the Head Chef, help prepare and assist in the creation of meals. Participate in menu planning, ordering and receiving. Maintain accurate kitchen stocking and rotation. Set up and maintain cook stations and stock with necessary prep supplies. Prepare food items for the line. Work on the line, cooking and preparing items from the menu. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards. Handle and store food safely and properly. Follow OH&S, food safe, and WHMIS bestpractices. Minimum Qualifications Food Safe Certificate. Kitchen supervisory experience in a fastpaced environment. Minimum 2 years experience working in a similar role. Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualities Demonstrates integrity, discretion, critical thinking, and problem solving. Clear attentiontodetail with a strong work ethic. Willingness to exhibit flexibility and assist in other roles, as needed. Assist Head Chef with inventories, orders and other duties when required. Able to communicate effectively and promptly, and openly receive and act on feedback. Able to work as a cohesive, highfunctioning team to achieve goals. Take pride in hard work, strive for excellence, and anticipate guest needs. Proven ability to maintain professional working relationships with peers. Able to prioritize tasks in a complex and fastpaced environment with changing priorities. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. Trustworthy and selfdirected in completing core functions of the role. Sees tasks through to completion, including followup on any identified issues. Clear ability to report to their supervisor and also take direction and guidance from other members of management on a regular basis. Working Conditions Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 30 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires evenings, weekends and holidays as needed based on business demands, seasonal workloads and hotel/restaurant bookings. Position is based in a quaint, fairly remote town in the West Kootenay region of BC. Successful candidate must enjoy smalltown living and a tourismdriven industry that is seasonally driven. During these times of change, this position requires flexibility and willingness to accept new responsibilities. Compensation A competitive hourly rate will be provided, along with 4% vacation pay.
