Job Description

Position Summary BCITs School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0FTE) Faculty, Welding to teach in our Welding programs. BCIT is one of Canadas largest postsecondary institutes with more than 45,000 students enrolled in certificate, diploma, apprenticeship and degree programs. Responsibilities Within the Welding Department, responsibilities include instruction for apprentices and entrylevel trainees through advancing journeymen on multiprocess procedures; preparation of lesson plans, classroom lectures, practical demonstrations; caring for, repairing, and maintaining equipment; and working collaboratively with the Department Head and support staff. Qualifications IP redseal journeyman welder with BC level A or an outofprovince equivalent. Minimum five years at journeyman level. Must have pressure welding experience and hold current pressure qualifications. Strong welding skills across various processes gained in heavy industry. Supervisory experience. Repairing and maintenance of welding equipment and machinery experience; welding inspection certification is an asset. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated or willingness to advance knowledge and skills necessary to instruct curriculum. Demonstrated or willingness to train for computer skills necessary to instruct curriculum.
