The Position: We are looking for an entry level Accounting Associate to provide Summer Relief for our full time staff. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Associate performs a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to, accounts payable, petty cash disbursements, and other special projects. This is a vital role to the daytoday operations of the Accounting Department. Duties and Responsibilities: Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Following approved Agency procedures, issue purchase orders. Code and reconcile inventory related invoices. Check weekly cheque run edit list and match payment to vouchers. Perform weekly cheque run as needed. Confirm billing information with internal operations Prepare invoicing Petty Cash Disbursements Following approved Agency procedures, process and disburse petty cash requests, code and enter daily disbursements. Reconcile and record returned receipts and unspent petty cash. Reconcile petty cash balance daily. Make copies of billable receipts. Prepare and submit weekly petty cash fund order sheets to bank. Other Duties Assist other accounting staff meet deadlines. Perform other tasks as assigned. Cover other accounting roles during vacation/sick time periods. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma with some working experience in an accounting role Excellent communication, problemsolving and time management skills Computer literacy with emphasis on Excel, and knowledge on Microsoft Dynamics an asset. Attention to details and ability to multitask. Ability to maintain effective relations with staff members and external contacts. Ability to work as part of a team, and willingness to perform a variety of support tasks. A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required (pr is in process of being completed) prior to employment A Child Intervention Record Check Must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program funding (between 19 and 30 years of age, Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee Protection Status).
