We are excited to partner with one of the worlds leading Engineering & Construction Services firms for a newly created Leading Mechanical Design Engineer position based in their Edmonton offices. Responsibilities Design and detail Engineering of pressure piping and welded branch connections with and without reinforcement. Responsibility involves review of drawings, mechanical designs calculations, material specifications and purchase requisition. Coordination with inter-disciplines, other departments and external agencies like client, consultants etc. Preparation / review of techno-commercial estimation of Engineering design work. Assigning and receiving work of Engineers, Designers and Draftsmen. Authenticate Engineering works according to APEGA requirements Preparation / review of material take off, material specifications and purchase requisitions. Technical review of vendor quotations in compliance with project requirements. Co-ordination with inter-discipline departments, clients / consultants, and inspection agencies Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Must possess P.Eng designation and be in good standing with APEGA. 5-10 years in Engineering industry with hands on experience in preparation of design calculations and drawing review. Preference given to candidates with Static Finite Element Analysis exposure/experience Understanding of hydrotest / lifting analysis for pinned connections on equipment. Knowledge of International Engineering practices. Well versed with drafting software such as; Solid Works, AutoPlant, etc. Knowledge of International Codes on Piping Design such as ASME B31.3, B16.5/16.34 and welding according to ASME Section ix.
