About the Position The Dark Horse Store Manager is the core of our cafe experience, responsible for building and leading a successful cafe rooted in the Dark Horse brand and guest experience. The Manager works closely with the Barista team and Dark Horse Management to deliver an exceptional employee and guest experience, while operating a profitable and growing business with the highest quality standards. Candidates must possess a strong business sense, natural hospitality, and outstanding team leadership skills. The successful candidate will be excited by the opportunity to grow a coffee-focused hospitality business and embrace the challenges that come with it. We are currently hiring for this role at our Richmond & Spadina location. Primary Responsibilities Manage retail staff across the full spectrum of people-related functions including training, delegation, while upholding a culture that supports the positive development of all! Engage with both the local geographical community and coffee community as an ambassador with a focus on building positive relationships and enhancing the Dark Horse brand. Execute Dark Horse policies and processes including but not limited to cash management, store cleanliness, ordering, systems (7 shifts & POS), food safety, health & safety, hiring. Assist store manager with all ordering, inventory management, storage and display related functions in a manner that optimizes waste and top-line sales. Personally deliver outstanding customer service and ensure that all staff members understand how to and are doing the same. Study and understand Dark Horses product offering with a specific focus on coffee, food and bread related knowledge. Qualifications A positive ambassador with strong communication skills and a genuine kindness, thoughtfulness and a sense that the glass is always at least half full. Comfortable with key hospitality software including POS, scheduling and purchasing systems. Highly accountable and well-organized, with an ability to oversee a team of staff. Exceptional time management skills. Pay and Schedule Expected hours: 35 - 40 hours per week. Hourly wage of up to $21.00 per hour, depending on experience. Eligibility for benefits is subject to plan terms and waiting periods. Participation in customer gratuities in accordance with our tip allocation policy. Variable compensation related to the top line success. Reports To The Assistant Manager will report to the Store Manager and Dark Horses General Management team. Managers are expected to work full time hours in a manner that balances their personal needs against business performance.
