Primary Responsibilities Project Delivery Leads and coordinates with interdisciplinary teams and liaises with Freight Rail Market Sector Advisory Services, Railway Design Business Class, as well as Ports & Marine and Industrial Market Sectors Serves in a lead technical role for the planning, analysis, conceptual design and operation models of rail projects, including developing capital cost budgets and preliminary schedules Manage and support the management of planning projects and feasibility studies, including developing and managing scopes and budgets Support the development of financial models and economic Business Case Analyses to assess and progress project feasibility Collaborate with other HDR service areas including Transportation Planning, Environmental & Permitting, Data Acquisition, Strategic Communications, Economics, ROW/RES and Utility Coordination Work with a variety of clients, including railroads, industries, ports and governments, and with the HDR staff who serve those clients Business Development Grow the Advisory Services functional area by developing and enacting client development plans to define and drive strategies for select clients. Support client engagement and client management planning, with Transportation Business Group leadership Engage Market Sector/Area Client Development staff in the development and execution of key market sector initiatives identified during strategic planning and annual alignment meetings Lead marketing efforts and support project pursuits in Advisory Services and support marketing efforts in other market sectors Increase HDRs visibility in the railway development projects and public private partnership spaces by actively participating in strategic state and national organizations Track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits Corporate Develop and enact a streamlined approach and process for Advisory Services for rail related projects Mentor staff to assume elevated responsibilities Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering 10+ years railway design experience P.E. license is preferred Understanding railroad business, particularly operations and factors affecting operating and maintenance expenses Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of railway design projects Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, AutoCAD and MicroStation Familiarity with railway operations and railway business fundamentals Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams Project management skills Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in railway engineering and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Willing to travel as needed Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering 10 years related experience A minimum of 5 years project management experience Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
