As an Avionics Systems Technician in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), youll keep aircraft electronic systems working properly so every mission can launch, unfold, and return safely. These include: Competitive salary starting from $4,337 - $6,413/month for new recruits who join the Regular Force under the Direct Entry plan New pay increases: earn more from the start Signing Bonus paid in installments at key service milestones Paid education and training opportunities Vacation, parental, and other types of paid leave Health, dental, and vision coverage Counseling, and relocation support services Pension plan Stimulating workplace that promotes respect, belonging, and work-life balance Overview As an Avionics Systems Technician, your primary duties are to: Carry out performance tests, preventive/ corrective maintenance, and calibration of the systems and their associated components Set up and operate test equipment to maintain the above systems Operate and maintain computer-controlled automatic test stations Serve as an instructor in field technical training units, training squadrons or basic training units Prepare and maintain aircraft forms and statistical data Perform first line servicing tasks such as marshalling, parking, towing, starting, refueling, cleaning and de-icing You will find a comprehensive list of the primary duties on the forces.ca website. This position is similar to the following: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Avionics Avionics Maintenance Technician To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada; Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except: For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent); For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student; Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Qubec (some jobs need higher levels of education). Required Education The minimum required education to apply for this occupation is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec including Gr 10 Applied Math or Math 416 / CST 4. Foreign education may be accepted. Direct Entry Plan The ideal candidate will already have a college diploma or Red Seal for a related civilian occupation, the CAF will assess your training and experience and optimize your progression following basic training.
