Description The Department of Radiology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for an Image Scientist. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to the Principal Investigator. The role of the Image Scientist is to efficiently support the statistical analysis of data for research projects. This will include contributing to the design of project methods; independently implementing analysis plans; maintaining organized and replicable statistical coding files; liaising with project team members; and producing deliverables for project manuscripts, presentations, and other outputs. Summary of Key Responsibilities Research: - Liaise with Principal Investigator and the research team to clarify project tasks and timelines - Collaboratively contribute to the design of data analysis plans - Perform advanced data cleaning, analysis, and visualization according to pre-specified plans - Independently self-learn and troubleshoot image processing and statistical analysis techniques - Interpret and communicate results to the research team - Prepare deliverables, such as methods text, tables, figures, and appendices, for project manuscripts and presentations - Execute data handling in accordance with the proper protocols and with a high degree of integrity and reproducibility Project Management: - Assume responsibility for the successful and timely completion of data analysis of assigned projects, from project inception to closure - Develop operating procedures and make recommendations on workflow related to data handling Administrative: - Maintain the electronic organization of project files, including datasets, annotated code, and software outputs - Ensure compliance with research study protocols and file management system Qualifications / Requirements - BSc or MSc in Engineering or Computer Science - Minimum 2 years of experience with advanced image processing required - Experience with machine learning, software development, statistical analysis and data visualization preferred - Ability to perform detailed design, documentation, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of complex data analytics - Ability to provide analytical support to other team members and trainees through consultation - Effective time management and organizational skills, persistence and creativity with problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail - Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks under own initiative and exercise judgement with minimal supervision - Possesses a positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team - Advanced proficiency with Python and high-performance computing Application Deadline May 7, 2026 Additional Job Details This position is part of the AUPE bargaining unit, and falls under the Technical Job Family, Phase 2.
