We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Senior (Java/Web) Software Developer with strong database and API experience for our public sector client. This role is 100% onsite in Toronto. ABOUT THE PROJECT:Our client is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Java/Web/APIs) to support enterprise-level application development within a large public sector environment. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web-based applications and API integrations, supporting ongoing modernization and enterprise integration initiatives. The Senior Software Developer will work across the full Software Development Life Cycle, contributing to application design, coding, testing, and deployment, while collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions. ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications, including detailed programming specifications and code developmentDevelop, maintain, and test data-driven programs and enterprise applicationsResolve and troubleshoot technical issues arising from software usage, implementation, and migrationsCollaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life CycleDesign, code, test, debug, and document applications following structured development methodologiesDevelop and implement API integrations and RESTful web services within enterprise environmentsSupport application deployment, maintenance, and post-implementation activitiesParticipate in design walkthroughs, technical reviews, and stakeholder discussionsEnsure application performance, scalability, and maintainability using modern design patterns and object-oriented practicesSupport production issue resolution and system enhancementsREQUIREMENTS:Must-have:10+ years of experience developing large-scale multi-client web applicationsStrong hands-on experience with Java development and relational databases (Oracle or SQL)5+ years of experience in RESTful API development, integration design, and implementationExperience with API platforms such as IBM API Connect, MuleSoft, or Azure API ManagementStrong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven designExperience across the full Software Development Life CycleStrong experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies and SQL query languagesExperience using Azure DevOps and Agile methodologiesStrong knowledge of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and clean coding practicesExperience with security protocols such as JWT, OAuth2.0, and SSL certificatesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsNice-to-have:Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite modules such as GL, AR, AP, Inventory, and CollectionsExperience with PL/SQL, XML, Unix shell scripting, and Oracle Data IntegratorExperience with data warehouse, ETL methodologies, and OBIEEExperience with Java frameworks such as Oracle ADFKnowledge of middleware, gateways, and internet-ready applicationsExperience with rapid application development (RAD) methodologiesExperience with AODA and accessibility standardsExperience providing post-implementation support and technical documentationExperience conducting design walkthroughs and peer reviewsPublic sector experienceABOUT THE ROLE:Location: Onsite Toronto, ON (222 Jarvis St.)Duration: ASAP October 30, 2026 plus possible extensionsClosing Date: May 7, 2026, 12 pmWork hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours/day)Security level: No clearance required PAY DISCLOSURE:The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:Junior: $80$88/hrIntermediate: $88$95/hrSenior: $95$100.63/hrCompensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
