About UsForeplay is a bootstrapped, profitable SaaS company helping 10,000+ brands and agencies including AG1, Dr. Squatch, and Rhode Beauty unlock ad creative inspiration and analytics. Weve built something that works and are looking for professional management and integration of the founders' vision. The RoleThis is a velocity role, not a control role, if things slow down, they fail. Were hiring our first General Manager, the the person responsible for turning speed into a system without killing it. Youll be the person who turns vision into execution, keeps the team accountable, and ensures the business runs at a consistent, high-performance cadence whether the founder is in the room or not.If youve read Rocket Fuel by Gino Wickman, you already know this role: youre the Integrator. You take big ideas and messy priorities and turn them into clear plans, deadlines, and scorecards. You run the meetings. You hold people to the standard. You build the systems that make everything repeatable. This isnt a strategize from the sidelines role. Youre in the weeds, managing the product roadmap, holding the dev team to deadlines, orchestrating AI implementation projects, and building the operational infrastructure of a fast-scaling software company. What Youll Own1. Product & Engineering ExecutionYou manage the integration of the product roadmap combining founder vision with customer requests. You work with the founder on what gets built and then you make damn sure it ships on time. Youre the person the dev team answers to on timelines, scope, and priorities.2. Operational Cadence & EOS ImplementationYou build and run the operating system of the company. Weekly L10 meetings, quarterly rocks, annual planning. You implement an EOS-style framework (or something better if youve got it) and hold the entire org to it.3. KPIs & ScorecardsYou define the numbers that matter, build the dashboards to track them, and run the weekly reviews. If a metric is off-track, youre the one asking why and driving the fix.4. People & AccountabilityYou set up and run employee 1:1s, build scorecards for every role, and create a culture of ownership and follow-through. Youre not HR, youre the person who makes sure everyone knows exactly what winning looks like in their seat and whether theyre doing it.5. AI & Automation OrchestrationWere building an AI-forward company. Youll help orchestrate AI agent deployments and automation projects across the business, not necessarily building them yourself, but making sure they get prioritized, resourced, shipped, and measured. What Were Looking ForYouve been the operator, GM, or Integrator at a company doing $5M$25M in revenue. Youve seen this stage before.Youve previously worked directly in a martech software company or were the user of martech software through an operational role at a marketing /advertising agency.AI as leverage is non-negotiable, not optional, not bonus. You have real experience managing product roadmaps and holding engineering teams accountable to deadlines.Youve implemented EOS, Scaling Up, or a comparable operating framework. Ideally youve done it more than once. You default to action. You dont wait for permission, you dont over-analyze, you dont need to be told what to do next.Youre comfortable with ambiguity. In a company this size, your job description will evolve every quarter. That excites you, not scares you.You communicate directly. No fluff, no corporate-speak, no 40-slide decks when a Loom and a bullet list will do.Youre fluent in the tools of modern ops project management software, dashboards, Claude, AI/automation tools.Bonus PointsExperience in SaaS, martech, or the agency ecosystem.Familiarity with EOS specifically (Certified Integrator or EOS experience is a strong plus).Youve managed remote or hybrid teams and know how to build accountability without micromanagement.Youve worked directly with a founder/visionary as their operational counterpart. Why This RoleReal authority. You report directly to the founder and run the day-to-day. This isnt an 'Operational Assistant role, you have operational decision-making power.Bootstrapped and profitable. No board meetings, no fundraising theater. Just a business that makes money and wants to unlock the next phase of growth.High-impact, high-autonomy. Your work directly shapes the trajectory of our company while impacting over 10,000 customers who use the software every day.Compensation: Competitive base + performance bonus tied to company outcomes. How Well Measure SuccessWithin 30 days: You understand every team, every bottleneck, and every open commitment. Youve audited how the company currently runs.Within 60 days: EOS (or your chosen framework) is being implemented. L10s are running. Scorecards exist for every role. The product roadmap has clear owners and deadlines.Within 90 days: The company runs at a predictable cadence. KPIs are tracked weekly. The dev team is shipping on schedule. The founder can step away for two weeks and the company continues on a mission.Within 6 months: Foreplay operates like a company twice its size, product development is moving faster and team size is growing slowly supported by AI. You have built the ops infrastructure to support and accelerate our growth rate.At any point: You make independent decisions that lead to increased velocity, revenue growth or churn reduction. How Well Measure FailureWithin 30 days: Youre mapping processes but not removing friction. The number of meetings increases, but clarity and speed do not.Within 60 days: Decisions are delayed waiting for perfect information. Projects stall, and momentum slows under the weight of over-analysis.Within 90 days: The company feels more organized but ships slower. The product roadmap exists, but execution lags and deadlines slip.Within 6 months: The team is busier but not more effective. Theres more structure, more reporting, more process but no meaningful acceleration in product velocity or business outcomes. At any point: You attempt to standardize everything, including areas that require creativity, instinct, and taste or try to professionalize the founder instead of amplifying their strengths.
