Job Description

Our client, a respected international defence company with a downtown Ottawa office, is looking to add a permanent Accountant to their team as they prepare for a retirement transition.The Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This position is responsible for processing all purchase invoices, journal entries, and payments within the ERP system, ensuring that suppliers and employee expense claims are paid promptly and in compliance with corporate governance requirements.The role also includes developing JET reports to support both financial and operational reporting needs, as well as serving as a subject matter expert for Business Central.Duties may include, but are not limited to: Manage the endtoend processing and payment of all supplier invoices and employee expense claimsEnsure accurate allocation of cost codes and strict adherence to the Delegation of Authority (DoA)Prepare and post all ERP journal entriesSupport monthend close activities, including MMR submission, completion of all balance sheet reconciliations, and investigation and resolution of discrepanciesPrepare and file sales tax and excise tax remittancesPerform banking functions such as preparing multicurrency payments, monitoring cash positions, initiating bank transfers, completing bank reconciliations, and contributing to cashflow forecastingMaintain and update the fixed asset registerProduce Order Intake, CSR, and SSR supporting documentationServe as the NAV/Business Central subjectmatter expert, including testing and implementing new processes or system upgrades, troubleshooting issues, and providing user supportDesign and develop JET reports to enhance reporting accuracy, identify errors, and improve data visibilityOther duties as assigned Required skills and qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable and bank account/cash managementAccounting diploma, certificate, or degree required, with strong knowledge of debits and credits (CPA not required)Must be able to obtain Reliability security clearance at minimum; Secret clearance preferred but not mandatoryProficiency with ERP systems, specifically Business Central (strong asset)Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExperience with JET reporting considered an assetProven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamExperience in the defence industry considered an assetTrustworthy, highly organized, and able to manage time and priorities effectivelyDemonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of processes and deliverablesStrong problemsolving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and address them proactivelyBenefits and perks:Health and dental benefits after probation 100%4 weeks vacation, 5 after 2 years Annual bonus5 paid sick days, 15 after 1 yearDowntown - Bus accessibleRRSP MatchLocal and stable business over 30 yearsThe wage for this position ranges from $75,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.Monday to Friday Hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm | or 8:00am to 4:30pmIf you are interested and believe you meet the specified qualifications, please reply to this ad with your Resume.
