You will learn both legacy and modern technologies with mentorship from experienced team members. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure with one in-office day per week at the Waterloo office, and the remainder of the week can be remote or from the office based on task requirements or personal work preferences.Some of the Tasks:Back End Platform Modernization & Building for the FutureParticipate in initiatives to modernize legacy database structures, tooling, and operational practices.Assist with improving data models, documentation, and standards to support long-term maintainability.Learn and apply modern database and platform concepts while respecting the realities of long-lived systems.Database Administration & Operational SupportSupport and maintain GoldCares MultiValue database environment used in production by customers.Monitor database health, performance, and availability; identify trends and potential risks.Troubleshoot database and data-related issues in collaboration with development and support teams.Support release activities by validating database changes, scripts, and data impacts.Using AI to Support ModernizationLeverage AI-assisted tools to analyze database structures, queries, and data usage patterns.Use AI to help identify optimization opportunities, performance improvements, and data quality issues.Collaborate with senior team members to evaluate responsible, secure use of AI within database and platform workflows.Continuously learn how AI can enhance productivity while maintaining strong governance and data protection practices.Education & Experience12 years of experience supporting databases, applications, or systems (including internships/co-ops).Diploma or degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.Relevant coursework (e.g., databases, data structures, operating systems, cloud computing) is an asset.Hands-on experience with SQL or NoSQL through projects, labs, or personal learning.Interest in or exposure to AI tools within the SDLC.Ability to learn new technologies, including legacy systems, with guidance.Exposure to troubleshooting, scripting, or production-like environments is an asset.______________________________________________________________________________What's important to us at Gemini:Make long term investmentsIn people, technology, and customers.
