In the U.S., our expertise spans seven tax products, including R&D Tax Credit, Employee Retention Credit, Energy Efficiency Incentives, Grants, and more.Position: Grants ConsultantLocation: Ontario (On-Site/Hybrid Toronto office)Employment Type: Full-time, PermanentVacancy Status: This posting represents a current existing vacancy.Compensation Transparency (Ontario Compliance)Base Salary Range: CAD $60,000 $80,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.Additional Compensation: Performance-based bonus eligibility.Salary will not be negotiated outside of this posted range, in accordance with Ontario legislation.Function of the role:As a Grants Consultant at Leyton Canada, you will play a critical role in helping Canadian companies access non-repayable government funding to support innovation, growth, and technological advancement. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams in science, engineering, and technology, you will support clients by identifying relevant grant opportunities, developing strong funding strategies, and preparing high-quality applications. This role blends technical insight, strategic analysis, and strong communication skills.Main ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Needs AssessmentMeet with clients to understand their business objectives, upcoming projects, and funding needs.Assess eligibility for municipal, provincial, and federal grant programs across sectors including software, hardware, telecommunications, electronics, clean tech, and financial services.Build strong working relationships with Managing Directors, CEOs, CTOs, CFOs, and technical leaders.Grant Strategy & Proposal DevelopmentDevelop tailored funding strategies aligned with each clients R&D and business priorities.Prepare and submit high-quality grant applications, including drafting narratives, gathering technical and financial documentation, and coordinating with internal specialists.Ensure all submissions meet program requirements, compliance standards, and strict deadlines.Draft clear, persuasive technical and financial documents related to R&D and innovation activities.Project & Stakeholder ManagementManage multiple grant applications concurrently, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.Liaise with government funding agencies to clarify program guidelines, respond to queries, and support clients through assessment processes.When required, support interactions with tax authorities and funding bodies to defend or clarify claims.Research & Opportunity IdentificationStay abreast of evolving grant programs, public funding trends, innovation policies, and sector-specific developments.Identify new cost-saving and funding opportunities for clients based on their ongoing R&D and business initiatives.Contribute insights to internal teams and support continuous improvement of Leytons Grants service line.Collaboration, Workshops & Knowledge SharingWork closely with Leytons other service lines (e.g., SR&ED, Sustainability, Clean Tech) to provide integrated solutions for clients.Deliver workshops, seminars, and presentations to educate clients and partners about grants, R&D incentives, and innovation funding.Contribute to internal training, best practices, and methodology development.Required Experience & SkillsEducation & BackgroundBachelors degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Science, or a related field.1-3 years of experience in grant writing, public funding, economic development, consulting, or a related discipline.Experience with R&D environments; software development, hardware engineering, telecommunications, or technology innovation, is a strong asset.Technical & Analytical SkillsStrong analytical and research abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex program criteria and eligibility rules.Excellent numerical reasoning and the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CRM experience is an asset.Communication & Interpersonal SkillsExceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.Extroverted, approachable, and client-focused personality with a strong ability to build relationships.Independent thinker and enthusiastic team player with a strong sense of initiative.Why Join Leyton?Growth & DevelopmentAccess to exclusive international training programs through Leyton Academy.Defined career paths and mentorship within a fast-growing, global organization.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary with a performance-based bonus structure.Generous vacation plan (starting at 4 weeks) and Summer Fridays (half days) in July and August.RRSP employer matching and medical benefits package includes coverage for dental and vision care, prescription drugs, and paramedical services.Complimentary time off in the summer and at Christmas.Flexibility & CultureAbility to work remotely for up to 1 month per year and from any Leyton office globally for 15 days.Fun quarterly team events and a supportive, inclusive workplace environment.Use of Artificial Intelligence in Hiring (Ontario Disclosure)Leyton does not use automated or artificial intelligencebased tools at any stage of the recruitment or hiring process, including rsum screening, application filtering, or candidate assessment.
