POSITION SUMMARY Here at Canpar Express Shared Infrastructure team is seeking a highly motivated IT Systems Engineer to join our high-performance Infrastructure Core Team fixed-term temporary basis (June 1st to October 31st, 2026) based out of our Toronto office. The ideal candidate will have very strong technical skills and is expected to deliver results in a fast paced high pressure environment. The scope of responsibilities includes supporting business operations, project execution, collaborating with other IT Teams, and vendor management. As well as contributing with recommendations on the design, selection and modification of hardware, software, systems and applications; documenting technical specifications and processes. ENVIROMENT OVERVIEW - 6 subsidiaries - 100 + remote locations - 600 Virtualized Servers in VMWARE - 50 physical servers - 2 Main servers farms - CISCO USC and HP c700 blade centers - Netapp SANs - Active Directory - NT 4.0 Domains - Novell Netware & eDir - VMware - VMware Horizon - Windows NT, 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012, 2019 - Linux Various - Exchange, On-premises and o365 - Various other in house and 3 party applications KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Candidate will be responsible for all IT systems falling under the package and courier division of TFI International. Operational Management - Provide office-hours and after-hours support monitoring of critical IT systems and Data Centre environments, intervening to correct issues when necessary Primary Core Responsibilities - Primary lead Corporate Backup systems - Windows servers virtual - Windows servers physical - Agent based backups (file, print, database, etc) - Novell bases systems - Primary lead Corporate Anti-Virus - Primary lead Server Patching and software updates - Primary lead Firmware updating - Primary lead Audit control systems (Tripwire) - Primary lead Maintaining and updating monitoring systems - Primary lead Environmental and power systems in the various data centers Secondary duties will include support, health, maintenance and monitoring of following systems - Administration Active Directories - Administration Windows OS based servers - Administration of VMware clusters - Administration VMware Horizon Clusters - Administration Microsoft Exchange on-premises and o365 - Administration Storage Management (FC, Zoning, Brocades, storage architecture Data Stores, SANs, DAS) - Assistance and support with In-house and third party software - Physical Servers - Virtual servers - Virtual desktops - MDAC of hardware (servers, racks and various other IT) Tertiary duties Preventive actions, projects collaboration and strategic planning - Assist in projects including design, installation, implementation, testing and upgrades - Participate with the investigation, design and help with the implementation best practices across systems and applications. - Contributes to the creation and ongoing updates of all systems documentation to ensure a reliable infrastructure reference library QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to quickly identify and analyze issues; assess troubleshooting options and prioritize activities. - Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with excellent oral and written communication skills. - Demonstrated organizational and planning skills. - Passionate about IT and how technology is leveraged to create a competitive edge - Analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. - Strong focus on client support and systems stability. - Project management skills and experience a definite asset - Must be prepared to work flexible hours to undertake tasks that cannot be completed during business hours, as required. - Occasional travel as required. Valid Ontario drivers license and reliable vehicle to travel to remote sites *passport an asset - Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights (i.e. mounting servers, storage, etc) EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - 2+ years knowledge of Microsoft technologies, Microsoft Windows OS, Windows servers, Exchange and Active Directory Infrastructure (DC, DNS, DHCP, IIS). - 2+ years experience with VMware, administration and maintenance - 2+ years or greater experience in a Tier 2-3 level support - 2+ years with CommVault, Kaspersky, VMware VCenter SRM and Fibre Channel Server Storage knowledge. - VCP and MCSE/MCITP, certifications are a definite asset. - Expertise with disaster recovery and site recovery solutions and technologies. - Good understanding and knowledge in supporting Linux systems. - Good understanding of FlexPod or Cisco Data Center certification also an asset. - Good understanding of blade center system is also an asset TO APPLY Interested applicants who meet the above criteria are requested to submit their resume.
