Qualifications Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant. Clinical Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Medical program in Canada or abroad. One of the following: Clinical Assistant Assessment or NAC OSCE or LMCC. Physician Assistant: Candidate must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM. Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Demonstrated problemsolving and decisionmaking skills. Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment. Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position. Demonstrated communication skills. Ability to respect and promote confidentiality. Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis. Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population. Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, clients and within interdisciplinary teams. Position Summary The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform physical examinations, and to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions. Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard of practice recordings of all patient encounters; these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Responsibilities Pre and postsurgical management of patients. Perform, order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions. Perform physical exams. Take medical histories. Make diagnoses and develop management plans. Counsel on preventative health care. Arrange consults and referrals. All aspects of surgical assisting in the OR. Perform basic procedures such as laceration repair/sutures, wound care, castings and dressings. Other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
