The Tenant Relations Officer (TRO) will assist the Garden River Housing Department in providing Garden River First Nation Citizens with safe and affordable housing. The TRO is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relations with tenants occupying units owned by Garden River First Nation Housing Department (GRFNHD) through liaison, counseling and communication with current and prospective tenants on home related matters. The TRO will also ensure the Housing Policies and Procedures and Tenancy agreements are adhered to, which will maximize the recovery of outstanding tenant debt pertaining to Section95. Responsibilities Explain the eligibility and applications process with potential tenants Assist with completion and processing of applications for housing Enter all applications for housing into the housing software Prepare and manage Rental agreements and Rent to Own agreements Counsel current and prospective tenants with respect to financial budgeting; arrange workshops Monitor, assess and maintain collection portfolio minimizing the bands financial loss Negotiate on a casebycase basis, a repayment Provide report to Housing Department Manager as per the departments overall collection status Qualifications Postsecondary education related field 2 years administrative experience Knowledge, understanding and experience of First Nation culture, values, and traditions Good judgment and problemsolving skills: ability to assess situations, prioritize, elevate issues appropriately and negotiate resolutions Clear CPIC required as a condition of employment Must be willing to travel throughout Garden River Community Preference will be given to Garden River First Nation Registered Members.
