Title: Mechanical Designer/Technologist Location: St. Catharines Pay: 80k to 100k per year TES is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer/Technologist (3 months contract to Permanent) in Niagara region. Responsibilities Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for the Steel Industry. Development of mechanical layouts using 2D/3D CAD. Produce layout relevant deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings and reports. Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs. Prepare detailed design calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches. Develop initial concepts into final designs, which would include preparing detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc. Work with vendors to review designs and selection of components. Support Production to troubleshoot assembly and fabrication problems. Qualifications Mechanical Engineering technologist preferred. 5+ years'' combined experience in the design of Steel Mill and/or heavy industrial machinery design. Travel within North and South America is required. Familiarity with fluid power and process systems principles, jigs, fixtures, piping is an asset. Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment. Proficient in the use of 3D Cad design software (preferably SolidWorks). Strong computer skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, FEA Analysis). Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems and provide solutions using sound judgment and decision-making skills.
