Job Description

Director, Engineering Port Elgin, ON permanent placement at our Port Elgin office. Responsibilities Responsible for the utilization of the engineering personnel assigned to them. Responsible for the technical integration with Bruce Power and Candu Energy Inc head office. Responsible for site technical point of contact with Bruce Power. Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are working on the project and are assigned work within their experience and skills. Provide guidance, technical insights, supervision and feedback to the Engineering Managers that are part of the team. Oversight of technical deliverables budget, schedule and quality. Ensure that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards. Review and approve or delegate the approval of key technical documentation under supervision. Identifying and proposing improvements in the functioning of the organization both proactively and in response to changes in the business environment. Liaise with external clients at the behest of the Project Engineering Directors regarding technical matters. Qualifications University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science. At least 15 years of applicable engineering experience including prior experience before engineering management roles. Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents in a relevant field of engineering, or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring. Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies. Demonstrated skills in managing engineering scopes of work on complex technical projects, leadership, and project management of a highly technical group. Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff. Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated business acumen the ability to think, plan and negotiate strategically with a strong commercial orientation and good understanding of financial measurements.
