You will be responsible for overseeing production and delivery of forest products for two Strategic Level Forests (SFLs), coordinating the development and implementation of strategic logging, road construction, and maintenance plans, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and utilization standards. Responsibilities: - Ensure compliance with internal and governmental safety, environmental, and utilization standards. - Serve as the lead operations planner for the two SFLs. - Develop ten-year and annual strategic logging plans in collaboration with the operations group. - Track implementation of the ten-year and annual operating plans. - Ensure access development and maintenance plans support the ten-year and annual operating plans. - Identify critical success factors and issues of the overall strategic operating plan. - Lead FMP development. - Work with the Forestry planning team to prepare and complete annual work schedules and Forest Management Plans. - Develop annual operating and road plans. - Ensure timely approval and tracking of harvest approvals. - Ensure Strategic Level Plans maximize value yield for the company. - Ensure Strategic Level Plans provide access to quality fibre to meet cost and delivery targets. - Develop log recovery models and optimized allocation planning tools. - Coordinate third-party harvest and road plans during the term of the FMPs. - Build strong relationships with operations, forestry, and fibre supply groups. - Maintain working knowledge of the FMP process. - Provide advice to operations groups on local operating constraints. - Serve as the primary contact and liaison with Domtar contractors on the forests. - Work cooperatively with all staff, harvest and road construction contractors to maximize operational efficiency and minimize cost. - Implement departmental budgets to ensure good cost control systems. - Integrate and understand Remsoft Forestry Software with the Operations and Planning teams. - Maintain continuous improvement program to maximize productivity. - Ensure all employees and contractors are aware of quality specifications for all facilities. - Develop good working relationships with governmental and public agencies, and stakeholders. - Support and mentor Ontario Forest Compliance and training. - Promote teamwork within the Woodlands Operations Group. Your Team: - Reporting to the Woodlands Operations Manager East for Ontario Woodlands, you will be part of a results-oriented team encouraged to exceed expectations. Qualifications: - 5 years of relevant experience in forestry-related fields. - Forestry degree or forestry technician certification required. - Demonstrated progression in leadership roles. - Salary range: CAD $105,000 to $131,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Assets & Skills: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work as part of a team, communicate with all organization levels, and adapt quickly to change. - Solid analytical and decision-making skills. - Excellent project and time-management abilities, managing multiple priorities. - Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Passion for continuous improvement of health and safety, efficiency, production, and planning targets. - In-depth computer skills and knowledge of MS Office. - Strong attention to detail combined with a big-picture perspective.
