Position Overview Reporting to the Supervisor, Children & Youth Services, the Day Camp Counsellor, Sr. is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an eightweek summer camp program. Duties and Responsibilities - Participate in camp training & agency orientation. - Assist in the development of the summer camp program plan. - Ensure the safety & security of the camp. - Lead in responding to critical situations. - Provide guidance & support to camp counselors. - Supervise children. - Maintain professional relationships with peers, children & community members. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. - Knowledge and understanding of working with children & youth. - Able to multi-task. - Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel. - Dependable, punctual and flexible. - Second language an asset. - Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer. - Currently enrolled or recently completed a diploma, degree and/or other certificate in a postsecondary institution. - Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a Clear or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency. Eligibility In order to be eligible, participants must: - Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position. - Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred. - Have a valid SIN.
