Job OverviewWe are seeking a Product Engineer (Intermediate) to support the Vehicle Engineering Quality team in a Design Convergence Lead (DCL) capacity. This role focuses on design-phase quality engineering, working closely with internal engineering teams and suppliers to ensure product quality requirements are clearly defined, aligned, and successfully executed during the development phase.This is not a CAD-heavy or design release role. Instead, it is a highly technical position centered on quality engineering, requirements development, and supplier coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and define technical quality requirements for automotive components during the design phaseEnsure alignment of requirements between internal engineering teams and suppliersWork with suppliers to review and validate part quality expectationsDocument and release technical specifications within project timelinesSupport development activities by ensuring compliance with quality standards and engineering requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, quality, and supplier organizationsOccasionally visit suppliers, plants, or technical centers as requiredRequired QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering or related field15 years of relevant engineering experience (Intermediate level)Strong background in automotive quality engineering or supplier quality preferredExperience working with suppliers or OEM manufacturing environmentsKnowledge of:GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)Tolerance stack-up analysisInspection methods and product validationQuality systems and manufacturing processesStrong understanding of automotive component quality standardsPreferred ExperienceExperience in automotive or large manufacturing environmentsBackground in interior/exterior plastic trim components (strong advantage)Exposure to validation, manufacturing, or supplier quality rolesExperience in development-phase engineering (not production launch)Additional RequirementsAbility to work remotely with strong self-management skillsComfortable collaborating across distributed teams and suppliersWillingness to travel occasionally for onsite meetings or supplier visitsStrong communication and documentation skillsAbility to manage deadlines and multiple stakeholdersImportant NotesThis is a development-phase quality engineering role, not a CAD design or drafting positionCandidates should be comfortable owning technical requirements and driving alignment across stakeholdersStrong quality mindset and manufacturing understanding are key to successThe expected base salary range for this position is $35 $38 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.
