OverviewAECOM is actively seeking a visionary Drinking Water Treatment Manager to lead our municipal drinking water consulting team in the GTA in this replacement position. This is a 'Player-Coach' role designed for a technical expert who excels at high-level process design and project delivery while possessing the strategic acumen to grow our market share in the GTA, leveraging top notch regional and national drinking water engineering expertise and capabilities. Join a global team of professionals delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact around the world.ResponsibilitiesTeam Growth: Develop a well-balanced team in alignment with the strategic plan, collaborating with AECOM GTA Management to identify key recruits that will fuel growth and support succession planning.Effective Operations Management: Oversee team dynamics, utility, performance evaluations, staff management, and the financial health of the drinking water portfolio.Business Development: Collaborate with capture managers on critical pursuits, lead technical proposals and capture strategies, while adhering to allocated budget for business development.Client Relationships: Foster strong relationships with key GTA clients (e.g. City of Toronto, Regions of Peel, York, Durham and Halton).Project Delivery: Lead the execution of complex multi-disciplinary projects from design through to construction, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act and regulatory design guidelines.Performance Tracking: Monitor group performance indicators through insightful reports to track sales growth, cost management, and achievement of win and booking targets.Technical Oversight: Provide senior-level guidance on drinking water treatment processes (e.g. conventional treatment, membrane filtration, ozone/UV disinfection, chemical feed systems, and residual management).Internal AECOM Liaison: Represent the local market sector within the national AECOM network, liaising with internal stakeholders for reporting and business functions.External Industry Representation: Represent AECOM at industry conferences (e.g., OWWA, AWWA, CWN), coordinating team participation in relevant conferences and sponsorship opportunities to maintain a pulse on emerging treatment technologies, market trends, regulatory shifts and developing client contacts.Mentorship: Lead and mentor a highly performing and passionate team of 10, including project managers, junior, and intermediate process engineers, with a clear focus on fostering technical excellence, collaborative design practices and the integration of advanced treatment technologies. Provide hands-on guidance in staff career development and cultivate an environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Education: Bachelors degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in the design and construction of municipal drinking water treatment plants.Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or transferable within 6 months.Leadership: Proven track record of managing technical teams and successful project delivery. Skilled in delivering a comprehensive strategic vision throughout all phases of multi-million dollar drinking water infrastructure projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.Preferred Qualifications:Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in the design and construction of municipal drinking water treatment plants.Leadership: Proven track record of managing technical teams and successful project delivery. Skilled in delivering a comprehensive strategic vision throughout all phases of multi-million dollar drinking water infrastructure projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.Advanced Degree: Masters or PhD degrees in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental engineering is considered an asset.Local Expertise: Strong existing relationships with GTA clients and the drinking water industry, including participation/activity in associations.Project Management: Progressive experience as Project Manager in municipal drinking water engineering design and construction.
