Position Description Illumina develops the worlds leading next generation DNA sequencing (NGS) and microarray platforms which are revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, life sciences, forensics, agriculture, and clinical research. To support the growth of Illumina, we are looking for a System Integration Engineer to join the Microarray System Integration Team within Illumina Product Development. You will participate in the development of high quality, robust microarray products through the integration of hardware, instrument, software, chemistry components and workflows. This is a handson position which will require you to be responsible for the design and execution of the experiment plan, the analysis of the experimental results and the troubleshooting/investigation of potential system issues, and to support the development of endtoend assay workflows. Position Responsibilities Job Duties include but are not limited to: - Handson testing and integration of the product system hardware, software, chemistry/reagents, consumables and application components. - Design and execute experiment protocols to optimize endtoend workflow performance. - Execution of the Design Verification Test (DVT) to verify the product requirements. - Execution of Engineering study for workflow optimization/test. - Use analytical tools (JMP, R, Python, etc.) to conduct data analysis and data interpretation of the experimental results regarding the workflow/assay performance. - Organize and present experimental data clearly and concisely. - Contribute to the development of appropriate hardware, software or workflow configurations for the system or prototype to be used in V&V studies. - Contribute to the investigation and resolution of system/subsystem level technical problems. - Contribute to the draft of development documentation (e.g., engineering study reports, workflow instructions, etc.). Position Requirements - Demonstrate understanding of Microarray/Sequencing/Library Preparation technology, molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics. - Wetlab experience in the molecular biology/biochemistry lab environment with sound laboratory skills. - Handson experience for planning and execution of DOE for workflow optimization/problemsolving/root cause investigation is preferred. - Detail oriented, organized and highly motivated. - Proficiency in standard computer skills and statistical packages. - Solid communication, presentation and writing skills. - A desire to be a part of a fastpaced, multidisciplinary, and dynamic environment. - Work effectively with crossfunctional project team. Preferred Experience/Education/Skills - Typically requires 02 years of related experience with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related disciplines. - Previous experience working with Illumina Sequencing/Microarray products. - Previous experience using Python or other programming tools for the analysis of large data sets. - Previous experience working with liquid handling robots.
