Job Description

To coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of pulmonary and polysomnography equipment to provide detailed analysis of pulmonary physiology tests and polysomnography tests. Major Duties & Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities - Perform routine pulmonary physiology tests, exercise testing, polysomnography test, ambulatory sleep test, pulse oximetry study. - Provide CPAP counseling services, information on polysomnography and pulmonary physiology tests. - Evaluate and assess reliability of findings, patients performance and pertinent clinical implications. - Perform manual scoring of polysomnography test, and assessment on validity of pulmonary physiology tests. - Generate and dispatch accurate reports. - Maintain record of reports and patient records in departmental database. - Schedule test appointments and follow up appointments as needed. - Perform routine calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure accurate and reliable assessment and diagnosis; troubleshoot errors when variances arise. - Check, maintain and manage inventory stock. - Assist in the training of junior medical officers and assistant medical technologists. - Assist and participate in clinical research activities in the department. - Participate in Quality Improvement projects as assigned. General Responsibilities - Performance of other related duties as assigned by supervisor. - Maintain cleanliness and order of laboratory and workspace at all times. - Be actively involved in hospitals projects and functions and participate in community outreach programs. - Uphold and maintain a culture of patient-centered care and safety. Job Requirements Education / Training / Experience: Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent. Minimum six years for diploma* holders working in a sleep laboratory and/or a pulmonary function laboratory in a hospital. *Diploma in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent. Professional Licenses - BCLS certificate (Required) - Preferred, if not, at least one of the following should be attained within 2 years of employment/promotion into position: - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or - Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) Other Requirements - Required to work in rotating shifts (day ight) as needed. - Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint needed. - Should be able to work independently as well as in a team setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
