Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Product Engineer (Intermediate) to support the Vehicle Engineering Quality team in a Design Convergence Lead (DCL) capacity. This role focuses on design-phase quality engineering, working closely with internal engineering teams and suppliers to ensure product quality requirements are clearly defined, aligned, and successfully executed during the development phase. This is not a CAD-heavy or design release role. Instead, it is a highly technical position centered on quality engineering, requirements development, and supplier coordination. Key Responsibilities - Develop and define technical quality requirements for automotive components during the design phase - Ensure alignment of requirements between internal engineering teams and suppliers - Work with suppliers to review and validate part quality expectations - Document and release technical specifications within project timelines - Support development activities by ensuring compliance with quality standards and engineering requirements - Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, quality, and supplier organizations - Occasionally visit suppliers, plants, or technical centers as required Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field - 15 years of relevant engineering experience (Intermediate level) - Strong background in automotive quality engineering or supplier quality preferred - Experience working with suppliers or OEM manufacturing environments - Knowledge of: - GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) - Tolerance stack-up analysis - Inspection methods and product validation - Quality systems and manufacturing processes - Strong understanding of automotive component quality standards Preferred Experience - Experience in automotive or large manufacturing environments - Background in interior/exterior plastic trim components (strong advantage) - Exposure to validation, manufacturing, or supplier quality roles - Experience in development-phase engineering (not production launch) Additional Requirements - Ability to work remotely with strong self-management skills - Comfortable collaborating across distributed teams and suppliers - Willingness to travel occasionally for onsite meetings or supplier visits - Strong communication and documentation skills - Ability to manage deadlines and multiple stakeholders Important Notes - This is a development-phase quality engineering role, not a CAD design or drafting position - Candidates should be comfortable owning technical requirements and driving alignment across stakeholders - Strong quality mindset and manufacturing understanding are key to success The expected base salary range for this position is $35 $38 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.
