Classification: Kenjgewin Teg Teacher Salary Grid Position Objective: The Learning Coach is committed to creating and promoting an environment that reflects the Anishinabek language, traditions and culture in all that they do. The Learning Coach will have an appreciation of Anishinabek culture, principles, values, language, history, and customs, and will be supportive of Anishinabek practices and protocols. The Learning Coach will provide expertise in the application of learning theory, learning opportunities, and instructional methods, and will work as part of a team to teach and coordinate duties for the Pathways to Post-Secondary Program. This position is ideal for a passionate, people-focused individual who will support and guide a student population with tremendous potential, ensuring access to services that promote academic success and student retention. The position demands an individual who can handle people with tact while inspiring, leading, and being supportive at the same time. Qualifications: Bachelor of Education degree with intermediate/senior qualifications in one or more of the following: Math, Science, English, Social Studies. Guidance and/or Special Education qualifications would be a definite asset. A member of good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience in the intermediate/senior division or adult education learning environment. Job Knowledge and Skills: Experience in facilitating or instructing an adult education learning environment. Experience in curriculum writing would be a definite asset. Knowledge and experience working with e-learning applications and LMS, including the Ministry of Education D2L environment. Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office 365 and related applications. Familiarity with available community resources in our service delivery area. Possess coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment, approach to program development and delivery. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, community service providers, and staff.
