Backend Data Engineer Lakeflow & Job DevelopmentNew RoleContract 6 months and for possible extensionsRemoteCanadian Citizen/Permanent Resident onlyPay Rate: $50-$60 per hr.Role OverviewThe Backend Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and backend data workflows. This role focuses on Lakehouse/Lakeflow architectures, job orchestration, and data processing to support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement backend data pipelines using Lakeflow and job orchestration frameworksDevelop, schedule, and monitor batch and streaming data jobsBuild and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment processesOptimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and costEnsure data quality, validation, and error handling across workflowsCollaborate with analytics and visualization teams to support reporting needsImplement logging, monitoring, and alerting for data jobsMaintain technical documentation for pipelines, jobs, and architecturesRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in backend data engineering and pipeline developmentHands-on experience with Lakehouse / Lakeflow architecturesProficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java)Experience building and scheduling data jobs using orchestration toolsStrong understanding of ETL/ELT patterns and data lifecycle managementNice-to-Have SkillsExperience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, or similar platformsFamiliarity with cloud-native data services (Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, GCP Dataflow)Experience with CI/CD for data pipelinesKnowledge of data governance, security, and access controlSuccess CriteriaReliable, scalable, and well-documented data pipelinesMinimal job failures and efficient recovery processesStrong collaboration with analytics and reporting teams #J-18808-Ljbffr
