Introduction The Wildfire Superintendent is a senior management position responsible for directing and overseeing the delivery of complex wildfire management programs within the Northern Fire Region. Duties Reporting to the Executive Director of the Wildfire Service, the Wildfire Superintendent- Northern Region provides leadership and oversight in the development, coordination, and evaluation of wildfire policies, directives, programs and budgets. The Superintendent directs and manages staff and operations across the region, under the direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with other Superintendents and the Provincial Fire Centre. An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered. Experience in planning, administering/delivering and managing wildfire or landbased programming. Supervisory experience, including experience with performance evaluations/management, attendance management, discipline, investigating complaints/concerns. Field experience in wildfire suppression, in supervisory role. Financial management experience including: preparing, monitoring and controlling annual operating, salary, and capital budgets. Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of staff, colleagues and stakeholders. Strong written communications skills, with the ability to complete high level authorityseeking documents, advisory notes and proposals. Experience procuring/contracting goods and services and managing projects and contractor relationships. Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must possess and maintain a Class 5 Manitoba Drivers licence. Must be willing and able to travel within Manitoba and Canada, including travel to remote areas by different types of aircraft, and overnight stays in primitive accommodation.
