As an Exercise Leader with Wellspring Chinguacousy, you will lead evidence-informed cancer exercise programming in a compassionate, member-centred environment, guiding participants through safe and effective exercise routines adapted to the unique challenges of cancer and its treatment. Exercise Leaders bring depth of clinical expertise, a strong grounding in oncology exercise principles, and prior experience at Wellspring or in a comparable oncology setting. In this role, you will facilitate classes and provide direction and mentorship to volunteers, while contributing to a high-quality, safe program experience for all members. Key Responsibilities Program Delivery Lead Cancer Exercise program sessions, providing safe, evidence-informed exercise instruction tailored to participants'' individual needs and cancer-related considerations. Assess new members before entry into the program and create personalized exercise plans. Lead participants through exercise routines with clear verbal instruction and, where applicable, physical or demonstration. Monitor participants throughout sessions and respond appropriately to any concerns or changes in condition. Complete progress notes, assessments, reassessments, and discharge protocols as required by professional standards. Manage equipment setup and take-down as required. Make announcements to program participants as requested by the program management team. Leadership and Mentorship Provide direction and guidance to exercise volunteers during sessions. Foster a safe, inclusive environment that encourages member participation and trust. Participate in case conferences or meetings with the Program Manager as needed. Refer issues or concerns requiring follow-up to the Program Manager. Administration and Compliance Ensure attendance is recorded at each class by the volunteer. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Wellspring Program Leaders Guide and your professional college. Support professional college audits as required. Maintain valid registration, professional liability insurance, and First Aid/CPR certification throughout engagement. Required Qualifications Registered health professional in a relevant discipline, including one of: Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin), Physiotherapist (PT), Athletic Therapist (AT), or Occupational Therapist (OT). Note: CSEP certification alone (without a professional registration designation) does not meet this requirement. In good standing with the applicable regulatory college (e.g., College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, Ontario College of Physiotherapists). Minimum 23 years of experience working in a rehabilitation setting, with demonstrated experience working with individuals with comorbidities and musculoskeletal issues. Demonstrated ability to assess clients and develop individualized exercise plans; this role requires clinical assessment skills beyond general fitness training. Valid general liability insurance and professional liability insurance. Current certification in healthcare professional-level First Aid, CPR, and AED. Completion of Wellspring Orientation (or equivalent, subject to Wellspring approval), including: CancerSmartRehab Techniques in Oncology and CancerSmartAdvanced Rehab Techniques in Oncology. Note: Oncology-specific training will be provided by Wellspring Chinguacousy. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working at Wellspring or in an oncology exercise setting. Experience facilitating individualized exercise programs in a group setting. CSEP-CEP or equivalent advanced exercise certification (in addition to professional registration). Fluency in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, or other South Asian languages. Experience working with racialized or underserved communities. Training Wellspring Chinguacousy provides paid onboarding and training to support new Exercise Leaders in delivering safe, high-quality programming. Required training includes Wellspring Orientation and oncology-specific modules (CancerSmartRehab Techniques in Oncology and CancerSmartAdvanced Rehab Techniques in Oncology). This training is a meaningful investment in your professional development and will be fully covered and compensated by Wellspring Chinguacousy. Training sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays during regular working hours (9:30 am 5 pm) in July and August. Candidates must be available for some hours on these days during this period. While we can offer some flexibility, applicants who are not available on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer are encouraged to consider whether this role is the right fit at this time.
