Snowflake Architect SME (GTM Domain) Location: Calgary (Onsite) Experience: 10+ Years Duration: Long Term Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Snowflake Architect SME with strong domain expertise in GTM (Gross Ton Mile) reporting and railroad data systems. This role will drive end-to-end solution architecture, translating complex business logic into scalable Snowflake-based data solutions while ensuring accuracy, performance, and alignment with operational datasets. The ideal candidate will act as a domain-led architect, bridging business requirements and technical implementation, and owning architecture, validation, and orchestration strategy. Key Responsibilities Lead solution architecture and high-level design for GTM report generation on Snowflake Translate GTM allocation and business logic into scalable Snowflake transformations Perform data validation, reconciliation, and benchmarking against MDW reference datasets Design pipeline orchestration strategy including: Job sequencing Dependency management Retry mechanisms Error handling frameworks Define integration architecture for upstream systems such as RPM and Rail360 Establish technical standards, coding best practices, and documentation frameworks Provide DevOps alignment, including CI/CD strategy and deployment governance for Snowflake workloads Lead research, prototyping, and PoC initiatives to validate architectural approaches Act as SME for GTM reporting, including: Railroad topology Operational data semantics Business rule interpretation Key Deliverables GTM Solution Architecture & High-Level Design Documents GTM Allocation Logic Implementation Artifacts Integration Design Documentation (RPM & Rail360) Pipeline Orchestration Design Framework Data Validation & Reconciliation Reports Technical Standards & Coding Guidelines Documentation PoC Artifacts and Domain Knowledge Documentation Required Skills & Qualifications 10+ years of experience in data architecture and data engineering Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and optimization Proven experience in complex data transformation and pipeline orchestration design Experience with data validation, reconciliation frameworks, and large-scale data systems Hands-on exposure to CI/CD, DevOps practices, and cloud data platforms Strong understanding of data modeling (dimensional & normalized) Domain experience in transportation/logistics/railroad data (preferred) Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to translate business logic into technical design Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in GTM reporting or similar operational analytics frameworks Exposure to railroad systems, topology, or logistics data platforms Experience with PoC development and architecture evaluation frameworks
