Secondary School Vice-Principal The Successful Candidate will be placed on the Secondary Vice Principal shortlist for a maximum of two (2) years. Any candidates not placed within this period will have to reapply to the position. Candidates that have previously applied and been unsuccessful in two consecutive postings within the last twelve (12) months will not be considered for an interview. Responsibilities Demonstrate dedication to Catholic education and foster a Christian community based on the Catholic Faith. Commit to the York Catholic District School Boards Mission, Vision and Strategic Commitments. Demonstrate classroom or administrative excellence as indicated through positive performance appraisals, the interview and the application package. Apply strong professional knowledge of child/adolescent development and learning psychology, with a demonstrated concern for children and youth. Utilize knowledge of required learning outcomes (quality learning and enhanced faith). Exhibit leadership qualities and abilities that foster a Catholic Learning Community and carry out the duties and responsibilities required of the position (identifying barriers to inclusion, judgment, effective communication, collaboration, motivation, empathy, flexibility, dependability, resilience). Commit to advancing human rights and equity in schools and in the community. Commit to lifelong learning and personal growth. Required Qualifications and Experience Part I of the Religious Education Course with documentation of enrollment. A current pastoral letter of reference dated within the last 24 months. Ontario School Principals Qualifications Part I and Part II as per Ontario Regulation 176/10 (Teachers Qualifications) made under the Ontario College of Teachers Act; candidates currently enrolled in the PQP and within two years of completion may apply under Ontario Regulation 298 (Operation of Schools General) made under the Education Act. Completion of the YCDSB Discernment Series for Aspiring Catholic Principals prior to placement. Special Education Part 1 Course or the Special Education for Administrators AQ Course. Seven (7) years of qualified teaching experience as of June 30, 2026 in both divisions (Intermediate, Senior). Experience may include up to two years in long-term occasional positions.
