This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the details, improving systems, and helping operators make better decisions. You will work directly with the CEO and business leaders across retail, professional services, and recurring-revenue businesses to strengthen reporting, cash management, controls, and operational insight. This role owns monthly close, payroll, cash forecasting, compliance coordination, FX execution framework, and standardized reporting across the group.Transactional bookkeeping is outsourced offshore. The Director of Finance is accountable for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of bookkeeping output and for translating financial information into actionable insight for business leaders and partners.This is not a capital markets or investor relations CFO role. It is an operator role focused on building strong finance cadence, controls, and decision support.Key Responsibilities1. Close, reporting, and consolidationOwn the month-end close process for each operating company, including schedules, reconciliations, and variance analysisDeliver monthly financial packages for each company with clear commentary and KPIsCreate standardized reporting templates and definitions across companiesProduce a consolidated group dashboard for CEO level visibilityEnsure intercompany allocations, eliminations, and invoicing are accurate and timely2. Payroll ownership and CRA executionOwn payroll processing across all companies, including approvals, provider management, payroll calendar, and issue resolutionEnsure CRA remittances are accurate and on timeCoordinate and file T4s and ROEsReconcile payroll clearing and liability accounts monthlyAct as the primary internal point of contact with CRA as required3. Cash, forecasting, and working capitalMaintain a weekly cash forecast at the company levelIdentify near term cash risks and recommend actionsImprove working capital performance, especially inventory and payables at Backyard CanadaSupport financial planning for growth, hiring, and major purchases4.
