JOB DESCRIPTIONInsight Global is looking for an Export Controls Specialist to support a Canadian space company by ensuring full compliance with Canadian and U.S. export control regulations. Reporting to the Manager, Trade Compliance, this role is responsible for administering export permits, licenses, and regulatory assessments across the full program lifecycle from early data release through final product delivery. This individual will play a handson role in Canadian and U.S. export controls, balancing regulatory requirements with business needs, and partnering closely with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and global MDA locations. The ideal candidate has direct export controls experience (not logistics or customs) and is comfortable working in a regulated, securitysensitive aerospace/defense environment. Key Responsibilities Review, prepare, and manage Canadian and foreign export permits, licenses, and EndUser StatementsApply for U.S. reexport and retransfer authorizations (Department of State / Department of Commerce) for U.S.origin technology Conduct export control assessments, including jurisdiction, classification, and determination of controlled goods Support Controlled Goods Program (CGP) activities, including personnel and product assessments Serve as a key contributor to compliance with: Canadian Export Control List (ECL) Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Exports and Imports Permits Act (EIPA) U.S. ITAR and EAR regulationsManage the Export Controls Online (EXCOL) system, ensuring accuracy of applications, reporting conditions, and advisory opinions Partner with program teams to ensure required permits and licenses are in place at all contract stages Track and maintain Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), DSP5s, and other export approvals, working closely with PMO Liaise with Canadian and foreign government agencies with a high degree of professionalism and discretion Act as Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) and Designated Official (DO) supporting CGP and Industrial Security programs Ensure no unauthorized access to controlled materials, including managing access to segregated IT systems Deliver export control and compliance training to internal employees Support internal compliance investigations and report exportrelated risks with mitigation strategies Continuously improve export control processes, tools, and practices while supporting daytoday compliance activitiesREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE2+ years of handson export controls experience (regulatory compliancenot logistics or customs) Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. export control regimes, including: Canadian Export Control List (ECL) Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Exports and Imports Permits Act (EIPA) ITAR and EAR Experience with: Export permit and license applications Export control assessments and classifications CGP clearances (personnel and product) Reexport and retransfer licensing under U.S. regulations Understanding that U.S. export controls apply to Canadian companies using U.S.origin technology Ability to balance regulatory compliance with business delivery timelines Strong judgment and problemsolving skills in complex, regulated environments Excellent communication skills and ability to work crossfunctionally with minimal supervision Eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance within 612 months Candidates may start with Reliability Status Must pass Controlled Goods Program (CGP) assessment Willingness to meet mandatory onsite requirements: 3 days per week onsite (increasing to 4 days starting June) No flexibility on this requirementNICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEExport controls experience within aerospace, defense, or space technologies Prior experience acting as ACSO or Designated Official Familiarity with anticorruption and due diligence policies Government or publicsector export controls background Experience supporting compliance investigations or audits Advanced understanding of space or satellite technologiesCompensation:$85,000 to $120,000Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D.
