Construction Manager role with a mid-sized ICI GC in Ottawa! Supervisory and hands-on roleYour new companyHays Construction & Development is once again partnered with our long-term client, a well-known and respected GC in Ottawa. They are a well-established company that works in a variety of specialties in ICI and Civil construction.Your new roleIn this newly created role, as the Construction Manager, you will report to the Director of Construction and have chiefly responsibility for managing a group of Site Superintendents with a mandate to bring a more formalized process and procedure to the department and projects. This is a senior leadership role suited to a process-driven builder from a top-tier contractor environment who thrives on improving field operations and driving performance across projects.Your day-to-day role will involve leading, mentoring, and holding accountable a team of 7 Site Superintendents.Oversee 57 active projects ($2M$100M; typical $30M$50M)Drive schedule, quality, safety, and budget performanceImplement standardized processes, SOPs, and lean construction toolsStrengthen field execution, planning discipline, and QA/QC controlsAllocate field resources and support unionized self-performing crewsAct as General Superintendent on key projects when requiredCoordinate with PMs, clients, consultants, and subs to keep projects on trackWhat you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this vital role, you should bring at least 10+ years in construction, with strong Site Superintendent experience on $30M+ projects.Background in ICI and/or civil infrastructureExperience managing multiple projects and field teamsStrong knowledge of scheduling, QA/QC, and lean constructionExperience in union environments (preferred)Degree/diploma in construction, engineering, or similar (asset)What you'll get in returnThere is a very good compensation and benefits plan for you with this top-tier employer, bonusable position and very good employment benefits.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.This posting is for an existing vacancy with the organization.AI may be used to screen, assess or select applicants for the position.
