Duration: 12 MonthsFully on-siteWorking Hours: 9am - 5pm, Monday - FridayOccasional overtimeTravel: Must be available to travel to US and Canada, travel to customer sites - 25% travelJob Description:Analyzing customer applications/specifications and understanding the design of protection and control panel, single line diagram, schematic diagram, logic diagram, control diagram and Bill of Materials, engineering instruction, wiring drawing, wire list, wire tags to fulfill user specifications and requirements.Prepare test plans customized to ensure that multi function protection relays behave the way they are supposed to do to protect the power system installed at.Create relays setting files based on logic diagrams and setting included in coordination and protection study reports.Upload setting files and set up communication including IEC 61850.Execute test plans using secondary injection tests and simulate complex control schemes such as Transfer schemes, synchronizing schemes and Auto-restoration schemes based on logic diagramsTake full responsibility to assigned projects with minor support from Senior Lead Application EngineerTesting of customized Protection and Control solutions both in house and at customer installationsProvide field support up to and including commissioning of new applications.Provide training/peer check/design support to other members of the team.Qualifications / Requirements:University degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering5 years working experience in relay testing and creation of setting files for Multi-Function RelaysStrong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes and communication applicationsExperience in creation of test procedure and maintenance procedure related to factory and site testing and commissioning protection panel.Excellent understanding of theoretical bases for all major protection principles including Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, Bus, Feeder, Generator and Large Motor protection.Demonstrated team player, initiative to take the lead and mentoring of other members of the team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.Customer focusedDesired Characteristics:Experience in turn-key Protection and Control projectsWorking knowledge of secondary injection test sets like Omicron, Double or Megger.Familiarity with standard work and documentation procedures of electrical utilitiesInterdisciplinary experience including metering, communications, substation automation and integrationKnowledge and experience with GE Digital Energy and 3rd Party Protection Relay productsP.Eng Certified is an assetAbout US Tech Solutions:US Tech Solutions is a global staff augmentation firm providing a wide range of talent on-demand and total workforce solutions.
