Manager of IPAC and Health and SafetyHourly Rate: $38.02-$47.53 (Commensurate with Experience)Permanent Full TimeStart Date As soon as possibleSt. Josephs Continuing Care Centre is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to join our team as Manager, Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) and Occupational Health. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Hospital Operations, this role provides organizational leadership in infection prevention, occupational health and safety, and workplace well-being.The Manager is accountable for ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, advancing evidence-based practices, and fostering a culture of safety, prevention, and continuous quality improvement across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & StrategyLead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organizations Infection Prevention & Control and Occupational Health & Safety programs Ensure alignment with organizational priorities, accreditation standards, and applicable legislation Promote a culture of safety, prevention, and continuous quality improvement Infection Prevention & ControlOversee hospital-wide surveillance systems for communicable diseases, including data collection, analysis, and reporting Lead outbreak management, including investigation, containment, communication, and reporting Collaborate with Public Health and internal teams to implement timely control measures Chair/lead the IPAC Committee and guide organizational practices Occupational Health & SafetyCo-lead the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and regulatory requirements Lead Ministry of Labour inspections and organizational responses Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk investigations, ensuring follow-up actions Monitoring, Reporting & ComplianceAnalyze and report on IPAC indicators, occupational health metrics, and safety trends Maintain audit tools and inspection processes, and support electronic reporting systems Ensure policies and procedures reflect current best practices and emerging guidance Education & Organizational SupportDevelop and deliver education and training programs for leaders and staff Coordinate mask fit testing and support environmental infection prevention practices Lead staff immunization programs, including vaccination campaigns and compliance tracking Collaboration & Workplace Well-BeingPartner with Human Resources to address workplace health trends and support return-to-work initiatives Promote psychological health and safety and contribute to staff well-being strategies Build strong relationships with internal teams, Public Health, Ministry partners, and community stakeholders QualificationsEducation & CertificationsBachelors degree in a relevant field required Regulated Health Professional designation preferred Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred (or in progress) Additional certification or education in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset Experience35 years of experience in infection prevention and control, including outbreak management Experience in healthcare settings required; hospital experience preferred Supervisory or management experience is strongly preferred Experience in occupational health, workplace injury management, or return-to-work programs is an asset Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to interpret and apply legislation, standards, and clinical guidelines Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities High level of accountability, discretion, and sound judgement Proficiency with data analysis, reporting tools, and standard office software Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
