Job Description

A Canadian gold producer is seeking a Tailings Engineer to support tailings governance and dam safety activities at one of its underground mining operations in Northern Ontario. This is a site-facing role working closely with the Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE), operations teams, and external consultants to support the safe operation and ongoing management of the sites tailings facilities.The role operates on either a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation or a 4 days on / 3 days off schedule for individuals willing to relocate nearby.Key Responsibilities Support the RTFE in the day-to-day management and oversight of tailings storage facilities Coordinate tailings monitoring, instrumentation review, inspections, and performance tracking Support dam safety governance activities and ensure alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements Interface with EORs, consultants, and Independent Tailings Review Boards Assist with tailings deposition planning, water management, and dam raise activities Participate in inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives related to tailings governance Work closely with operations, environmental, and technical teams to support safe and efficient tailings managementRequirements 5-10 years experience in tailings engineering / geotechnical engineering Experience supporting tailings operations, dam safety, or TSF governance activities Exposure to GISTM and modern tailings governance practices Strong understanding of TSF monitoring, instrumentation, and operational management Ability to operate effectively in a site-based environment and collaborate across disciplines Degree in Civil / Geotechnical / Mining Engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent)
