Summary Of DutiesReporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department works in collaboration with the entire health care team, the patient and family. Responsible for primary care of Emergency/Trauma patients, the main functions of the RN include, but are not limited to: assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy. The RN supports the Philosophy of Person-Focused Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook. The RN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.Qualifications/SkillsCurrent registration with the Ontario College of NursesBaccalaureate degree in Nursing preferredCurrent B.C.L.S.Current A.C.L.S. Certification and/or Basic Arrythmia CourseTwo (2) years recent Emergency experience required or combination of Emergency Department certificate with practicum experience or critical care certificate with critical care experienceTNCC and ENPC preferredCPI training is an assetExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to adapt to a fast-changing and stressful environmentDemonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past two (2) years with emphasis placed on courses/conferences related to EmergencyDemonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives, such as participation in nursing council, unit committees, and quality improvement projectsDemonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; organization skills; priority setting skills; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolutionAbility to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient careAbility to handle stressful environment in a positive mannerAbility to function independently and as a part of the multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated commitment to Person Centre Care approach and principles #J-18808-Ljbffr
