We are currently looking for a Waterfront Team Lead to join our team of committed professionals. This Full-time Summer Contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontarios Rotary Camp Tillicum location in North Bay. LOCATION: Rotary Camp Tillicum RATE OF PAY: Starting at $20.00 / hour HOURS: Up to 40 hours per week Major Responsibilities - Lead the planning and delivery of all waterfront programs, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and other lake-based activities - Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers and staff participating in waterfront activities at all times - Act as Head Lifeguard, providing active supervision, coordinating coverage, and stepping into lifeguard duties as required - Lead and coordinate all waterfront emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained, confident, and responsive in emergency situations - Supervise, support, and provide direction to waterfront staff and counsellors facilitating programming in the waterfront area - Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to staff - Develop and deliver comprehensive waterfront staff training during pre-camp training - Monitor waterfront conditions (weather, water safety, equipment usage) and make informed decisions to adapt or pause programming as needed - Ensure all waterfront equipment is properly maintained, inventoried, and in safe working condition - Oversee daily setup, organization, and end-of-day closing of the beach and waterfront area to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment - Support and collaborate with the broader camp team, including participation in general camp programming, special events, and camp-wide initiatives - Facilitate and support programs and other scheduled activities - Ensure all documentation is completed accurately, including incident reports - Uphold and model YMCA 'Y Way' standards in all interactions with staff, campers, and families - Perform other duties as assigned to support overall camp operations Qualifications - National Lifeguard certification (NL) in good standing - National Lifeguard (Waterfront) considered an asset - Experience planning and facilitating waterfront programs in an outdoor camp environment - Experience overseeing staff in a waterfront setting and ensuring safety of all participants - Skills in risk management associated with waterfront programs in an outdoor camp environment - Skills in facilitation and instruction relating to swimming, canoeing, and kayaking - Knowledgeable in areas of waterfront safety and emergency waterfront procedures - Ability to rescue capsized canoes and kayaks - Ability to operate a rescue boat considered an asset - Ability to facilitate staff training sessions for all staff - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Excellent interpersonal skills - Physically fit - Current Standard First Aid and CPR C - Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check If contacted, and you require a disability related accommodation in order to participate in the recruitment process, you must advise the Human Resources Department.
