Your Opportunity The Emergency Department at the Peter Lougheed Centre is entering an exciting new chapter. With the final phase of our brand-new, state-of-the-art emergency department nearing completion, we are preparing to open at full capacity in early 2026. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Calgarys healthcare landscape and brings with it the need for additional skilled and passionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our growing team. As one of Calgarys largest urban emergency departments, we provide care to patients across the full spectrum of acuity. You will be accountable to the public for your own practice, responsible for ensuring that your practice meets legislative requirements and the practice standards of the College of Registered Nurses Alberta (CRNA). Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: Additional Required Qualifications: Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Current CRNA registration or ability to obtain CRNA registration. Current BLS - Heart and Stroke. Minimum of two (2) years of acute care nursing experience obtained within the past four (4) years working greater than 0.70 FTE. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum two (2) years nursing experience in a Calgary or Edmonton Zone Emergency Department. Triage and Trauma trained. Charge trained in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department. Bachelors degree in nursing. Recent critical care experience (obtained within the past 3 years working greater than 0.50 FTE). ENCP (within 4 years). TNCC (within 4 years). ACCN certification. ACLS (within 2 years). Security Screening: A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
