Job Description Native Council of Nova Scotia, 129 Truro Heights Rd, Truro, NS Position: Indigenous Family Resource Outreach Worker Reporting directly to the Family Resource and Parenting Journey Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for providing Indigenous children, youth, and their families throughout the South Shore of Nova Scotia with resources, tools, programs, and services that support their healthy development and help them reach their full potential. The Family Resource Program provides communitybased programs and services that support the healthy development and wellbeing of children and youth by strengthening families and communities using holistic approaches to support positive outcomes. The goal is to provide brighter futures for Indigenous children, youth, parents, and Elders by using information, programming, and supports. Responsibilities include daily operations, coordination, development, and support of the familyresource entity as set by NCNS. Qualifications and Skills Postsecondary or equivalent work experience in human services. Relevant education, training, and work experience in a similar role will be considered an asset. Knowledge of child/youth development and understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal families. Ability to speak and understand Mikmaq language; familiarity with culture would be considered an asset. Computer literate. Excellent communication and writing, planning, and organizational skills. Selfstarter, problemsolver, and team player for the benefit of the service. Must have a valid Class5 drivers licence and access to reliable transportation. Must be able to provide a recent criminal record check and child abuse registry check. Computer literate, including the use and application of software used to develop professional presentations. Salary Range: $24 to $26 per hour (35 hours per week). Working Hours: 8:30am to 4:30pm. Benefits and vacation as per the NCNS Office Policy & Procedure.
