SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION MATHEMATICS, STEM & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (K12) The Sudbury Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Education. We are seeking a Catholic leader who will champion student achievement and wellbeing through system leadership in Mathematics, STEM education, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in our innovative and growing school system. As part of the senior administrative team, the successful candidate will assume systemlevel responsibilities which are reviewed annually by the Director of Education and may be adjusted in response to evolving system needs. The anticipated start date for this position is August 17, 2026, or another mutually agreedupon date. About Our Board Located in beautiful northeastern Ontario at the intersection of three major highways, our Board serves a diverse and vibrant community, that spans urban, suburban, rural, and scenic wilderness areas. Qualifications - Completion or active enrollment in the Ontario Supervisory Officers Qualification Program, with appropriate supporting documentation; - Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers; - Completion of Parts 1 & 2 Religious Education Additional Qualifications Program (or equivalent diocesanapproved qualifications); - Mathematics or science qualifications; - A strong commitment to Catholic education; - Progressive and successful experience in school and system leadership roles in Ontario Catholic schools; - Demonstrated expertise in Mathematics instruction and assessment, and leadership experience in STEMrelated programming (e.g., science, technology, engineering, coding, robotics, experiential learning); - Strong understanding of current and emerging trends in AI in education, including opportunities, risks, ethical considerations, and implications for K12 programming; - Proven instructional leadership and a demonstrated understanding of curriculum, assessment, and equityfocused programming from K12; - Experience in elementary and secondary program development, including Ministry initiatives and boardwide implementation; - A deep understanding of the principles and practices of equity, diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing, and a proven track record of implementing strategies that promote these values; - Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problemsolving skills; - Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change using datainformed analysis and research to support strategic decisionmaking and sustainable improvement; - Proven ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive, teamoriented environment; - Fluency in French is considered an asset Key Responsibilities - Develop a Board Math Achievement Plan that meets Ministry requirements, align it with the Student Achievement Plan; - Lead boardwide math improvement efforts, including curriculum implementation and evidencebased instructional and assessment practices in classrooms; - Track progress on key indicators, adjust strategies based on the data, and report regularly to the Director, trustees, and Ministry Math Action Team; - Work closely with superintendents, principals, math facilitators and other support staff in priority schools to ensure that schoollevel work in Grades 3, 6 and 9 is aligned with the boards math plan; - Provide system leadership of the vision for AI in Sudbury Catholic DSB, including the guiding principles, curriculum integration, professional learning, digital citizenship, and ethical use of AI tools in support of teaching and learning; - Oversee and support innovative STEM/AI initiatives (e.g., robotics, coding and computational thinking, interdisciplinary STEM projects, experiential learning, partnerships with postsecondary institutions and community/industry partners); - Ensure that technologyenabled and AIsupported learning environments reflect Catholic social teaching, promote equity and inclusion, and foster safe, responsible digital citizenship; - Contribute to the implementation of the Boards MultiYear Strategic Plan, Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and WellBeing, and other system improvement initiatives; - Establish and maintain strong, respectful relationships with principals, educators, support staff, families, students, and community partners; - Foster a collaborative leadership culture grounded in Catholic faith, ethical practice, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
