Academic Coordinator, Psychology This is a parttime (0.2FTE) term position ending November 1, 2027. The Position The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration, and maintenance of Athabasca University's PSYC 304 (Research Methods in Psychology), PSYC 379 (Social Psychology), PSYC 315 (Psychology and the Mass Media), PSYC 340 (Applied Social Psychology), and PSYC 432 (Psychology and the Built Environment). Other Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and mark student assignments), handling student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests, accommodations for students with disabilities), and providing service to the Centre for Social Sciences (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences). Qualifications Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator with expertise in psychology with a strong background in research methods and experimental social psychology. A minimum of a Master's degree in Psychology is required; a PhD is preferred. Experience in distance and online learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in coordinating courses and who are familiar with the various systems at AU.
