Job Information Req ID: 220655 Department: Admitting & Registration - Emergency, Health Information Services Location: Halifax Employment Type: Permanent Hourly PT (20% FTE) x 1 position(s) Start Date: ASAP Union Status: NSGEU Off&Cler, Admin Professionals Bargaining Unit Compensation: $23.3519 - $25.3918 /hour Closing Date: May 20, 2026 Job Title Admitting Clerk Responsibilities The Admitting Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit including: - Data entry for inpatient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer and preregistrations. - Required transport functions in accordance with unit and IWK Health policies. - Ordering and maintaining supplies. - Specific auditing functions. - Point Pleasant Lodge reservations. - Arranging for shift coverage. Hours of Work Varies based on 24hour department coverage schedule; includes days, evenings, nights, and weekends. 7hour shifts. Qualifications - Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. required. - Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset. - Previous experience in a similar role preferred. - Emergency experience preferred. - Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required; testing may be conducted on shortlisted candidates. - Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills required. - Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred. - Knowledge of medical terminology an asset. - Competency in other languages an asset.
