Description The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is opening one fulltime academic position (Teaching stream) in Zoological Medicine (Zoo, Wildlife, or Companion Zoological species). The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor teaching (tenure track) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Anticipated start date: July12026 or a mutually agreed upon date. Responsibilities Deliver teaching in didactic, clinical, and professional labs; conduct 4thyear clinical rotation teaching in the DVM program. Participate in reflective practice, engagement with scholarly approaches to teaching and learning, and maintain currency in pedagogical research. Provide student rotation teaching in partner specialty practices and other clinical settings. Engage in collaborative student or internled clinical research (desired). Complete university service obligations including course or rotation coordination, committee work, and scholarly activity (per distribution of effort). Qualifications DVM (or equivalent) with advanced training in zoological medicine (Zoo, Wildlife, or Companion Animal). Board certification preferred (DACZM/DECZM); boardeligible ACZM, ECZM, or residencytrained candidate in an applicable field with at least 3 years of zoological medicine experience may be considered. Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Demonstrated aptitude/experience in teaching both clinical and didactic settings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a collegial team. Evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness or competency in teaching and learning. Awareness of scholarly approaches to teaching and learning practices, and professional learning activities.
