Join our team today!Job DescriptionThe Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time Anatomical Pathologist to join a rapidly expanding and evolving program. As the department grows, the Division of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology is pursuing a hybrid staffing and service delivery model to support multiple specialist roles. The pathologist will have fellowship training with interests in Thyroid Pathology, Cytopathology and Dermatopathology. There is potential to incorporate aspects of Next Generation Sequencing into practice. There is also an opportunity to participate in teaching and research as the department builds capacity with the new medical school and research institution. The successful candidate will be based at the Brampton Civic Hospital site. Remuneration will be in accordance with the Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for Pathologists in Ontario.About The ProgramThe laboratory medicine program includes anatomic pathologists, hematopathologists, medical microbiologists, a molecular pathologist and clinical biochemist, with a team of medical technologists providing high-quality immunohistochemistry and 10-color flow cytometry support. The division of advanced diagnostics features next-generation sequencing capability, including recent introduction of NGS testing relevant to myeloid cancers and acute leukemia.QualificationsAccredited medical degree (or equivalent)Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or recognized equivalentExperience in independent practice is a plus; new graduates will also be consideredLicense to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of OntarioExpertise in Digital Pathology and informatics is desirable, given near-term organization plans to advance in these areasDemonstrated interest in medical leadership and laboratory management is advantageousAdditional subspecialty training desirableExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSound critical thinking and problem-solving skillsProven attendance, punctuality and accountabilityTraining or experience in informatics as applied to laboratory medicine is an assetModels behaviour that aligns with Oslers Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationExpertise in clinical teaching or clinical research is preferred for those interested in education or researchAdditional InformationOsler is a primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine and an academic partner with the University of Toronto and McMaster.
