This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of theworkshop, maintaining high standards of bike quality post-repair, managing inventory accurately,and fostering a safe and productive working environment for the mechanics. The WorkshopManager will also be responsible for training and development of the field service (FS) team andensuring adherence to established processes and SOPs.Responsibilities:Mechanic Productivity: Monitor and manage mechanic productivity to ensure desired targets areconsistently achieved. Implement strategies to optimize workflow and efficiency.Inventory Management: Implement and maintain robust inventory management systems to ensure zero discrepancy in workshop inventory. Conduct regular stock checks and audits.Process Adherence: Enforce strict adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)for all repair and maintenance activities. Ensure all mechanics are fully aware of and comply with the SOPs.Bike Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control measures to guarantee desired bike quality post-repair every time. Conduct final inspections and ensure bikes meet quality standards before release.Workshop Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic workshop environment. Ensurecompliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety awareness.Training and Development: Conduct periodical training sessions for all Field Service (FS) staff toenhance their skills, knowledge, and adherence to best practices.Briefing and Debriefing: Conduct daily briefing sessions to communicate priorities, targets, and any specific issues. Conduct debrief sessions to review performance, identify challenges, and sharelearnings.Inventory Planning and Control: Develop and implement inventory planning strategies to ensureadequate stock levels of spare parts and tools while minimizing wastage and losses.Asset Management: Manage and track all workshop assets and tools, ensuring their propermaintenance and preventing loss or damage.Problem Solving: Address and resolve any operational issues or challenges that arise within theworkshop in a timely and effective manner.Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on workshop performance, including productivity,inventory status, and quality metrics.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Inventory Reconciliation Accuracy: Percentage of inventory reconciliations that match physicalcounts.Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) Frequency: Average time between subsequent repair in a bike.Mechanic Productivity: Number of repairs completed per mechanic within a defined timeframe.Loss of Assets/Tools: Value or quantity of assets and tools lost or unaccounted for within a reporting period.Battery Removal TAT: Average time taken to remove and replace batteries during the repairprocess.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred.Diploma holders with significant relevant experience will also be considered. Proven experience(1-3 years) in managing a repair or maintenance workshop, preferably in the automotive or bike industry. Strong understanding of bike mechanics and repair processes. Excellent organizational and inventory management skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving and decision-making skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for workshop environments. Proficiency in using workshop management software and tools.Working Conditions: Primarily work in a workshop environment.
